How do I start a focus session?

1. Tap the Focus tab at the bottom

2. Set your desired focus time (default: 25 minutes)

3. Optionally select apps to block during the session

4. Tap Start Focusing

The timer will count down and track your progress. You can end early if needed.

How does app blocking work?

Lock In uses iOS Screen Time API to block distracting apps during focus sessions.

Setup:

  • Go to Settings → Screen Time on your iPhone
  • Enable Screen Time if not already on
  • Grant Lock In permission to manage Screen Time
  • Select which apps you want blocked during focus

Once set up, blocked apps won't open during your focus sessions!

What's included in the free version?

Free features:

  • Unlimited focus sessions
  • Basic habit tracking (up to 5 habits)
  • Streak tracking
  • App blocking
  • Basic stats and charts

Premium features require a subscription:

  • AI Coach (Bob) - voice & text coaching
  • AI Insights & productivity analysis
  • Unlimited habits
  • Advanced analytics
  • Custom habit suggestions

How do I subscribe to Premium?

1. Tap your Profile tab

2. Tap Upgrade to Pro

3. Choose Monthly ($5.99/mo) or Yearly ($39.99/yr)

4. Confirm purchase with Face ID/Touch ID

Both plans include a 3-day free trial. Cancel anytime before the trial ends to avoid being charged.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple, not within the app:

1. Open iPhone Settings

2. Tap your Apple ID at the top

3. Tap Subscriptions

4. Select Lock In

5. Tap Cancel Subscription

You'll retain premium access until the end of your billing period.

How do I get a refund?

All payments are processed by Apple. To request a refund:

1. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com

2. Sign in with your Apple ID

3. Find Lock In purchase

4. Click Report a Problem

5. Select reason and submit

Apple reviews refund requests on a case-by-case basis. We do not have control over Apple's refund decisions.

How does the AI Coach work?

AI Coach (Bob) is powered by OpenAI's GPT-4 and provides personalized productivity advice.

How to use:

  • Tap the Bob floating button
  • Type or speak your question
  • Bob will analyze your habits, focus history, and goals
  • Get personalized advice, habit suggestions, and motivation

Note: This feature requires a Premium subscription and sends your messages to OpenAI's secure API.

How do I create a habit?

1. Tap the Habits tab

2. Tap the + button

3. Enter habit details:

  • Name (e.g., "Morning workout")
  • Goal (e.g., "3 times per week")
  • Schedule (which days)
  • Time of day (optional)

4. Tap Save

Track progress by tapping the habit each day you complete it!

How do streaks work?

A streak is the number of consecutive days you've completed a habit or focused.

  • Complete your habit/focus session = streak increases by 1
  • Miss a day = streak resets to 0
  • Longer streaks = more motivation to keep going!

Your longest streak is also tracked so you can see your personal best.

Can I export my data?

Yes! To export your data:

1. Go to Profile

2. Tap Export Data

3. Choose JSON or CSV format

4. Share/save the file

Exported data includes your habits, focus sessions, streaks, and profile information.

How do I delete my account?

Warning: This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

1. Go to Profile

2. Scroll down and tap Delete Account

3. Confirm your decision

All your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Make sure to export your data first if you want to keep it!

🔧 Troubleshooting

App blocking isn't working

Solution:

  • Ensure Screen Time is enabled in iPhone Settings
  • Grant Lock In permission to manage Screen Time
  • Check that you've selected apps to block in the app
  • Try restarting your iPhone
  • Update to the latest version of Lock In

AI Coach isn't responding

Possible causes:

  • No internet connection - Bob requires internet to work
  • Premium subscription expired - check your subscription status
  • Temporary API issue - try again in a few minutes

If the problem persists, contact support with details about the error you're seeing.

My habits aren't syncing

Solution:

  • Ensure you're logged in with the same account on all devices
  • Check your internet connection
  • Force close and reopen the app
  • Try logging out and logging back in

The app is crashing

Quick fixes:

  • Force quit the app and reopen
  • Restart your iPhone
  • Check for app updates in the App Store
  • Ensure your iOS is up to date
  • Reinstall the app (your data is saved in the cloud)

If crashes continue, email us with:

  • Your iPhone model
  • iOS version
  • What you were doing when it crashed
